Chemainus
Chemainus Town, located on the beautiful Vancouver Island, is also known as the Mural Town. It is said that the town's population was primarily involved in logging for generations. However, as the logging industry faced a downturn and eventually halted, the town's population of over 2000 gradually lost their livelihoods, and many moved elsewhere to seek a living.
As Chemainus faced the prospect of disappearing, with a helpless mayor, artists from various places were invited. The goal was to preserve the town's history through mural paintings on the walls of its buildings as a commemoration. Unexpectedly, as the murals began to take shape, tourists from all over started visiting this disappearing town to witness the artwork. Gradually, the town revived its vibrant atmosphere, and the Mural Town of Chemainus has now become a notable attraction on Vancouver Island.
